Abstract
It is a fact that during late Antiquity, the particle καί is used more and more, replacing subordinating conjunctions, for example. Moreover and at the same time, there is an increasing use of some kind of doublets: synonymous terms connected by this particle καί.
My hypothesis is that Origen uses this kind of doublet so as to build his interpretation. Indeed, the second term, apparently synonymous with the first one, may play a role in the building of the exegesis, either to go deeper into the biblical verse, or to make a new step in the interpretation.
I will present a few examples of this phenomenon, mainly drawn from the Commentary on John.
