Athanasius of Alexandria (d. 373) did not write a technical treatise on diaconate or other forms of ministry. Nevertheless, his is, one would say, a world full of deacons. A wealth of references to deacons and the diaconate can be found in his writings. In what follows I attempt to map this wildly scattered and unsystematic information.
