Abstract
This paper discusses the indirect transmission of the Commentary on the XII Prophets by Theodoret of Cyrrhus. It takes into account catena literature, an abridged recension of Theodoret’s Commentary, the special case of a manuscript of Samos, incomplete series of commentaries, synaxaria and the menologia, and two Byzantine anthologies. These anthologies, the Pseudo-Anastasian florilegium and
the Pandects by Nicon of the Black Mountain, quote the same, identically rewritten excerpt from the Commentary on Hosea, allowing to hypothesize that Nicon used the Pseudo-Anastasian compilation as a source for this excerpt.
